PhoneSoap Product Iteration
Listen Up Shark Tank!!
Dear PhoneSoap,
You make a very unique and useful product. We got one recently and love it! Cleaning our phones in their own personal tanning bed is not only a fun process but also makes us feel better about those germs being gone. We definitely feel healthier after using your product for several months. And sure this could be the placebo effect talking, but when you see how many germs are on your phone (it’s hard not to check your phone on the toilet to squeeze out a text or two) you realize that you’re no longer in contact with that filth on a daily basis.
Kudos on developing a useful product! Now here’s how to make it better.
The U/X Idea
Add an On/Off switch to the device so that it does not run unncessarily.
The User Experience Problem
When your take your clean phone out of the container and close the lid, PhoneSoap runs another cycle for 10 minutes. Our problem is that this wastes energy and decreases the life of the product since it is now running an additional & unneeded cycle.
Could we simply unplug it when our phone is clean? Yes. But storing it somewhere is a pain, especially since it should be used on a daily basis and is a reminder to do so by leaving it out in the open. So then you’d have to either plug/unplug it from the wall (which would technically save you on a vampire load… but is such a pain!) or you could unplug it from the back and leave the cord dangling. The cord dangling method is a balancing act mixed with surgical precision to keep the cord from falling out - in which case if the outlet is below the PhoneSoap, the cord will fall towards that unless you tape it down on your furniture.
The User Experience Solution
Add an On/Off switch on the front or side of PhoneSoap.
Current operation for PhoneSoap 3: It is quite simple. Plug it in. Open the lid and put your phone in the “tanning bed.” Close the lid. The PhoneSoap logo on the top of the lid automatically lights up. PhoneSoap is now turned on and you can slightly see the UV light coming out. Then in 10 minutes all lights turn off and your phone is clean. Open the lid, take your phone out, and close the lid. Now either unplug it or allow it to run another 10 minute cycle, as it runs automatically whenever the lid is closed.
Recommended Operation: Open the lid and put your phone in the “tanning bed.” Close the lid. Push the On/Off Switch. The PhoneSoap logo on the top of the lid automatically lights up. PhoneSoap is now turned on and you can slightly see the UV light coming out. Then in 10 minutes all lights turn off and your phone is clean. Open the lid, take your phone out, and close the lid. PhoneSoap will not run again until the On/Off switch is pressed.
Conclusion
PhoneSoap is a great (and even fun) product to use! Add an On/Off switch, A.K.A. a power switch. Then your users can enjoy energy savings and increased product life!
Sharing is Caring!
